degree is awarded for a detailed research thesis, making an original contribution
to the academic field. Admission to this doctoral program requires the equivalent of a high standard of achievement in an earlier Masters or honours Bachelor course. One or two courses in research methods usually have to be completed as an introduction to doctoral research. In some instances these will have been completed in an earlier Masters course.
